Grammy Week cont: “We Are the World (Haiti Edition” behind the scenes

TMZ caught video from the Jim Henson (yes, Muppets!) studio in LA where tons of stars came through to re-record “We Are the World” for Haiti relief. The 1985 original was written by Lionel Ritchie and Michael Jackson, so along with being a song for a great cause (African poverty relief), the actual music was great and timeless. So…I was nervous that the remake would be some chopped and screwed-up “revamping” of the song with, like, an electro-beat and soulja-boy snares. Could still happen but judging by Celine Dion’s vocals, the melodies are the same.

Everyone from Kanye, to Weezy, to Jennifer Hudson, to that A.I.-looking Haley Joel Justin Bieber were on hand to donate their time, talent and star-power. (did Jay-Z and Eminem record their parts separately?) And I posted more TMZ pics after the jump…but this group shot that Illy sent was, particularly, awesome ; )
