Lil Wayne and Birdman Have High Hopes For Drake’s 1st Week Sales
The talk about Drake’s sophomore album selling 700k or more seems like a very confident but feasible task. YMCMB’s bosses seem to have to have faith in Drizzy making history. However, Weezy seems to not really care if he sells a lot or little, only because he’s “rich as sh*t.”
“We just want to get a perfect point across, a swell opinion across,” he said. “We want our opinion to be different from everybody else’s opinion, but so different and so great that everybody else joins that opinion. And if we get that done with the album, mission accomplished.”
“Now as far going to buy the album, as far as going to get 750,000 copies, that’s never a problem with us; that’s never important to us.” (via MTV)
Birdman on the potential impact of Drake’s Take Care
I think Drake’s gonna be the one to break a lot of barriers with sales. It’s just his second album — I could see him doing a million-plus his first week in the future. It’s gonna be incredible, and we’re just gonna have to wait and see.” (via Billboard)
Birdman talks about signing Busta Rhymes and Nicki’s next album after the jump…
What was the motive behind signing Busta Rhymes?
I think Busta Rhymes did his thing. He stayed on the grind and himself relevant; you have to always respect the hustle. It’s time for the machine to take him where he needs to be! We a great family, are are all excited about working with him, we always did work with him on all our projects, just about. He got the talent and the creativity to do what we need done.
Do you think he will be able to sell the way he used to?
That’s the whole point, that’s what I tell him everyday, we did this its all good but I want the numbers. My whole motivation for him is to get the numbers and he has everything it takes to get them. We have to do what we have to do.

“Nicki’s back in the studio, so we’re looking to drop Nicki in the first quarter,” he says.
“Maybe this year? I don’t know,” says Birdman. “We’re really thinking it out. But she’s in the studio, and we’re looking real soon, because she’s ready to go and we’re ready to go with her.”
“Drake put a lot on his shoulders when he was finishing his album and… I think Drake deserves everything he’s getting. He’s the future of music, to me. And he’s gonna get bigger and better. I think Drake’s gonna be the one to break a lot of barriers with sales. It’s just his second album — I could see him doing a million-plus his first week in the future. It’s gonna be incredible, and we’re just gonna have to wait and see.”
