ExclusiveAccess had to edit together little snippets of my friend DJ Clark Kent’s DJ set for the sake of time. But you get the point, that Clark rocked this “I Love NY” party in Atlanta the other night. Other than the fact that I like seeing him do his thing, I really posted this because of the foolery at the 4:46 mark with the drunky showing off his bottle of Henny, holding it over Clark’s laptop. Negative. And then the other guy in his winter puffy trying to talk to Clark while he’s working…not once, but twice. Not now, holmes. Ahh, some folks have the patience of saints.
(Waka Flocka describes to MTV everything that went thru his dreaded head when he was targeted at the car wash and shot in the arm/side/lung/etc a few weeks ago in Atlanta)
This is actually an interesting story in that, it made me wonder….what exactly would I do if someone ran up on me in the car, with a gun and said something as ignorant as “You slipped.” All things considered, I’d say Waka handled it pretty calmly. (Some folks say that lots of videogame playing has made young people more adept at thinking about different action-paths in outrageous situations). I’ve always said that if faced with some crazy danger, my pessimism would be my downfall. If chased to the edge of a rooftop, or discovered under the bed by a zombie…I’d just give up and die.
Ok, clearly, I’m no Capt. Sully and s–t.
According to reports that are just now surfacing, about a week and a half before Christmas, Usher went into the ATT store in Buckhead, ATL, and his car was broken into and robbed of: $1 million in jewelry, $50,000 in furs and clothing, and almost $16,000 in electronics.
The idea of carrying all that in your car is just insane to me. The fact that someone can snatch that from your car in the middle of the day in an open parking lot, equally insane….but actually more diabolical. Usher was clearly being targeted by someone who knew that jewelry etc was in there. Sidenote: Usher was a helluva secret santa.

According to Karen Civil, your boy Pill found a home at Asylum Records. Congratulations to the Atlanta kid, and if you haven’t heard of Pill yet, get familiar.
Hit the jump to check out Pill’s recent stop at The Source.

"I'm more than happy to donate bikes for Chauncey Davis' Bike For Life initiative as a way to help kids stay active and healthy," Shawty Lo said in a statement. "As a diabetic myself, I appreciate all of Chauncey's efforts in the community to promote diabetes awareness. I also understand the importance of educating young people early on and encouraging them to get the proper exercise to maintain a healthy weight."
The D4L rapper will be joining several members of the Atlanta Falcons and the event's sponsors in giving away bikes to 92 children tomorrow. "Anything I can do to help fight this disease, I am more than willing to lend my time and resources," Shawty Lo continued.

Gucci’s comments to me about his rivalry with Young Jeezy, his feelings about T.I., and his song “My Own Worst Enemy” got all the hype….but personally, I enjoyed our conversation about his teenage years much more. I wanted to know why (seriously, why?) he wanted us to sit outside in the drizzling rain, freezing, in the middle of East Atlanta’s Bouldercrest housing complex….amongst rows of boarded up townhouses…
So, Gucci explained that we were sitting in front of the 2 bedroom apartment where he grew up, below the window where he watched the trap unfold every day, and by the bus stop where he (and OJ da Juiceman) eventually worked his own hustle (away from the watchful eyes of his mother).
While I’ve heard a similar story many times before, in my own interviews, in music, in movies (and the scene definitely reminded me of The Wire)…what surprised me was Gucci telling me that he and his older brother balanced their drug hustle with their high school studies (both eventually being offered scholarships to college!?!) out of sheer respect for their mom.
Now, what’s missing in this edit is where Gucci expands on that respect, saying that he grew up in a supportive household, and that “even though we were poor, I never knew we were poor as a kid,” because his parents (including his namesake, dad Big Goochie) worked constantly to provide for them.
Definitely a side of the man that was interesting to see.
(PS: elsewhere in the interview Gucci tells the story about when and how his double life came to an abrupt end, and his rap career began…maybe that will be the final clip)

UPDATE: Wow. Diplo (”Paper Planes”) is going to remix Gucci’s Cold War mixtape? That should be interesting….I’ve heard Diplo is a big trap music fan.
“Gucci Mane is an underdog, and a divisive artist. I thought it would be cool to have a bunch of kids and weirdos do some mixes of his songs. We all are fans and we are from different scenes. Gucci is a rapper that doesn’t try and be anything he is not; he’s straight up. Maybe it’s ironic and all, but I’m just a fan and have been since day one. Gucci Mane is the cool uncle I never had even though I’m pretty sure I am older than him.†-Diplo
LOL!!
After the jump…there is another short clip that came out last week on Global Grind, of Gucci talking about when he was blacklisted in the rap game
